If your horse can handle one of the nets that cover their head and neck they really work. I had one horse that welted up so bad I had to keep her in at night.Twisted Oaks Quarter Horseshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06331790080181818434noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8926013554523279624.post-9286347817999117712007-05-18T12:54:00.000-07:002007-05-18T12:54:00.000-07:00Thanks, T.H., those are excellent additions! Thanks, T.H., those are excellent additions!Calliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05704537697611988375noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8926013554523279624.post-22985827600392051552007-05-18T11:03:00.000-07:002007-05-18T11:03:00.000-07:00That's a useful and helpful list. I'd like to add a few suggestions.
- I use a crupper on most of my horses (which don't have big shoulders) to avoid having the saddle slip forward on steep slopes.
- Where a slope looks tricky, it can be a good idea to get off and lead the horse rather than risk a mishap.
- I like to take a shoe puller and a shoeing hammer, so that I can tighten a shoe or remove it as the case may be. It's well worth looking at the shoes before setting out too.whitehorsepilgrimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17336201990231834504noreply@blogger.com
