I have a large loafing shed that I can easily convert into two box stalls , however I don't because neither of my mares will stand in a stall. I do have the floor of it clean and rubber matted. I kkep my girls out of the pasture but they have the paddock area and the training pen adjacent to the paddock. They have enough room to roll, stretch, trot a little and stay out of each others way. I keep my horses barefoot year round. Don't need shoes. They're heavy enough to crush down snow and ice.We had that same storm last week. Once the weather hits below 20 degrees F. I'll pop on their blankets.Calliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05704537697611988375noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8926013554523279624.post-37828190455366540472007-12-17T14:04:00.000-08:002007-12-17T14:04:00.000-08:00We're new to snow, so I'd love it if you can give ...We're new to snow, so I'd love it if you can give me some advice. I've got two former California princesses - Quarter Horses, a mother and daughter - who don't like staying in the barn and corral all day. We got the same snow/ice storm here in New England. I turned the girls out today for a short while in the pasture. Held my breath, no problems this time. They are getting their front shoes with borium cleats tomorrow. I hope you'll check out my blog, "Teachings of the Horse" at victoriacummings.blogspot.com. And please, if you have more thoughts on ice and snow, I hope you'll share them! Thanks.Victoria Cummingshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17267314663679137147noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8926013554523279624.post-14309892742796189512007-12-12T08:42:00.000-08:002007-12-12T08:42:00.000-08:00Now that looks cold!
