I thought I'd post up a couple of pics I found on the Internet of Patriotic horses to celebrate this day of remembrance. Remembering our soldiers. Unfortunately I was unable to get to a parade today, but we did have a nice breakfast at Millie's Pancake House. So a wonderful Memorial Day to all and hope you all have nice backyard barbecues with friends and family!

I wonder what this striped horse thinks of the paint job. Too funny.
Wonder too what they used to paint the horse with, looks very patriotic. Have a great day too.
LOL, Mikael, I thought that too. It doesn't look too happy to me!
I think the poor horse is humiliated right down to his hooves! Can't imagine doing that to a horse.
Love the pictures of you and your horses. True love right?!!
Arlene, I would hope that it was vegetable based.
Midlife Mom, I think it is too!
I can't imagine doing that to my horse....the bath he'd have to have afterwards! ;)
Hope you had a good Memorial Day too, Callie!
I know, that poor horse!
*ahem*
I have done such things to my horses over the years.....
I always thought that sending the message that we had not forgotten our Vets, past and present, was more important than how old Jack felt at the time. (Besdies, he was blind. He could not see the paint job, and he could not see the American Flag we carried...)
Sorry-- I come from a family of Vets, and have a strong STRONG support of our military. We have an informal "Adopt A Soilder" policy here, and there are never some of America's Finest too far away...
While the paint job is kinda funky to say the least, I like the spirit it was done in! And I LOVE those stars and bars blankets on the other horses!
LOL! Man I have dressed my poor horse up on more times than one! What a unique way of honoring our soliders!
So curious, Mrs.Mom, what did you paint him with? That seems to be the general question. I'm guessing a vegetable dye........
Actually, Twinkle Toes has a whole line of water soluble horse paint... Sparkels in the sun too- which I loved...lol...
Probably a good thing my old horse was blind.. lol.. He Would Not Have Appreciated Being Glittery. At All.
A local tack store by me sells the american flag blankets. They have a plastic pony decked out in one of those blankets with a flag fly mask and matching flag leg wraps.
Aahh, So there really is horse paint out there, hehehe, wonder if I should decide to decorate Kola!
onthebit, love the American Flag blankets!
