Well, I went out there and rode Misty first. Quite a few times around the arena and picked up the speed to a nice little trot. Amazingly, saddled up Kola as well. Last year, only a halter and saddle and Steve leading once. She's broke and used to be a lesson horse, but after my crash in 2006, I'm a little gun shy and I've had Kola for only 2 years and Misty now for 5 years, I think. I was surprised to see her just open her mouth to the bit as I approached her with it. Hell, Misty doesn't even do that! I still had Steve lead her around this time, but next week, we'll just do our thing. Steve thought she was weird on her front legs, however, she is gaited and hasn't been ridden in forever. I think she was just lazy and not used to it, but vet is out on Thursday for coggins and remainder of shots, so I'll have her look at her. Her feet are clean and she looks good to me. I think just not used to carrying the weight and that is why we are riding weekly and if it doesn't rain tomorrow, we'll be getting some exercise on the lunge line. They both were my beautiful angels and very good girls under saddle and I thank them very much for carrying my fat bumble bee ass around today. As a treat afterward, they got turned out to some pasture. Come hell or high water, the three of us will ride and get in better shape!

It's good you're getting out there and getting them going. I'm sure everything will be fine once you all get used to a routine. Have fun and from the picture you look fine.
GO COWGIRL CALLIE!!!!!!!
I am envious ;)
Thanks, Arlene, My plan is to be like Mikey by end of the summer with Misty. She follows leg cues pretty well.
Mrs.Mom,LOL, I saw your pics of riding Sonny the other day. You go girl! I'm riding every week and working with them as well. I am bound and determined.
Good for you. I'm envious of your Tuesday as well. Sounds like heaven.
Good news! It must feel good to be back in the saddle! I know I was sore after my 3 hour ride Sunday. I have ridden sporadically over the winter. I worked with my horse a lot, just not rode, as it's just often too wet we don't have a covered arena. What kind of gaited horse is Kola?
Yep, Ranchette, I'm dedicating Tuesdays to ride day.
Pony Girl, Kola is a spotted saddle horse, but not registered. It's too cold and snowy up here to ride in the winter unless you have an indoor arena and I don't have that luxory....I wish! LOL
Two horses in one day, good for you. Sounds like it all went well.
Yeah, It did go fairly well, Mikael, I need to trust Miss Kola, though. Once I get there it'll be even better.
Ah Ha, Did a little reading and I'll bet I had that saddle too high on Kola's withers and shoulders and that was interferring with her balance and gait. Now I know, I'll use the full quarter horse bar saddle that I instintively bought for her and then wasn't sure. Why don't I trust my gut!!!!
Have fun with your horse. It seems to be kind.
Thank-you, Portraits, they are very kind and great mares. I wouldn't give them up for the world!
You Go Girl!
By the way, that's a pretty spiffy looking saddle pad and saddle resting on the fence in your photo!
Bit of a style setter, I'd say!
You go girl! I am envious the last couple of days I have been so busy, I have not had time to ride! Keep it up!!
Thanks, Marvel & KDW, It was nice and tomorrow, the vet is here, so there'll be no riding, but I feel good about meeting my goal!
woo hoo! Im glad your horses rode great for you :)
Ive been too damn busy to ride this week :(
Thanks, BG, I'm lucky because I only work every Friday and Saturday 12 hour night shifts every week, whick gives me a full four days off, Sunday for sleeping off the weekend.
