Rode Yesterday And Hey Any Simularities?

I wasn't able to ride last week, weather and prior commitments, etc.. So this week I made it my priority, however, I had issues with Kola. Nothing major, something I'm sure I did. So Misty was the only one ridden and I can already start to see a bit of difference in her muscle tone. I rode Misty with the saddle , but only a halter. I have to work on my hands. I carry my damned hands too high. I'm going to start putting wrist weights on. Has always been my problem, anyway she was perfect with just a halter. I had issues with Kola when I bridled her. I don't know what I did, but my guess is I pinched her ear and that set the tone, unfortunately. It wasn't that she was bad, but her mood up until then was fine and then, it was one of those situations, where your intuition comes in and you can feel the potential for a blow up, so I opted out of getting on. Instead we did some lunge line work and backing, since there was a bit of attitude there and she did popped in the nose once for getting lippy with me later when I donned her "gay" apparel. Now isn't this funny? Kola is suddenly looking very much like one of Zoe's stolen lawn gnomes!

You're right, there is definitely a similarity there. lol Poor ponies, I wonder if they feel foolish or maybe they don't care. lol

Oh my word! That is just a hoot! That could be a tv commercial as they are always having that gnome on for something! I loved your post on why you are so happy! GREAT post!!

The pictures are hilarious. I love the similarities. Glad you got to ride. Instead of riding with a halter we sometimes just use a bitless bridle, and a lot of them seem to like it better. It's good to have that intuition when you 'just know' something isn't going to go right. It's a learning experience but once you get it you can save yourself from a possible disaster.

LOLOLOLOL... Oh Callie... that is just not right to do to that pretty mare... She WILL get even with you, you know... hehehe ;)

Gotta agree- the lawn gnomes in the bedroom are kinda.. creepy... Kids.. lol...

Yes, I see the resemblence, it's striking! ;)
Got to trust that cowgirl's intuition. Many days I have not riden, just because there was "something in the air" and my gelding just seemed a little off. Better to just do groundword and prevent a bad ride or potential diaster!

Wrist weights is a good idea. They should at least make you more aware of your hand positioning. Mares can get so pissy at times. At least that gnome mask/hat forces the horses to have a sense of humor.

Mikael, I must admit, I think mine feel foolish....hehehe

Midlife Mom, It is funny and thanks, glad you liked it.

Arlene, I'll have to try that, the bitless bridle, I'll look in our local tack store and see what they have to offer. Gut feelings are good!

Mrs.Mom, I'm sure she will. Zoe has changed her mind about keeping them in her room. They are now stacked outside our front door, which is creepy enough...LOL

Pony Girl, It is striking and purely by accident....hehehe...I learned a couple of years ago about intuition, unfortunately by disaster.

NuzMuz, I think the wrist weights is a good idea, and LOL, it was a fly mask over the fly ear cover and just the right angle.

Andrea, It was, I swear purely by accident but too funny! She was not amused...........LOL

Portrait, Once Kola got used to the ear cover, it didn't seem to bother her, but it does make a funny picture...hehehe

Yikes! That's a scary resemblence... when Steve and Zoe start looking like gnomes, you'd better catch the fastest plane out of there!

With me it's elbows which is sort of the same problem. I remember once my instructor took a stirrup leather and tighened it around my middle over my arms! I had to trot and canter the rest of the lesson with my elblws pinned to my sides. It helped. I don't recommend it in an un-suppervised situation however.
