Figure This One Out!

So it's 4pm, I've been busy indoors fixing a wall, making chicken stew, and painting and then cleaning my mess afterwards and then writing the previous post. So Steve hollers up, " Kola is making all sorts of noise out there, she's telling you to feed her!" So I look at the clock and think, "Geezus, that's a lot of noise for 4pm, kind of early?" So I get up to see what the fuss is all about and low and behold Misty is running around the pasture and Kola is going ape shit because she is still in the paddock. Look closely at the above picture and the fence. There are no other breaks. The handle to the gate is not broken and the tape is in relatively good condition. If anyone ever tries to tell me that horses cannot be crafty and calculating, I will call them a bold face liar! Nearest I can figure, she released the handle, oh I don't know maybe with her teeth and stomped down the tape and crawled under it! Crawled under it!

I quickly checked her for any injury and see nothing. Her legs look clean and her face. There is one patch of hair missing on her hip, but no cut or scrape. The end result? I guess they both get a little pasture time today and the fence now stays on 24/7!

Now getting these girls in was more of a challenge than previously thought, even though well planned out! Oh they are on my shit list now and then I had to go in and get aloe cream for various cuts on them!

You got some talented horses there! Aren't they amazing at the things they manage to do?

Geezus Mikey, I couldn't figure it out! I did laugh, though. And now I'm tired from chasing them in! Fence is on, hope they both get a zap!

That sort of behavior makes you want to jack that charge up high, doesn't it?

Horses are here to make us crazy

Very smart girl, sometimes you have to laugh at them though. Especially when they have that innocent, 'Who me' mug on.

Was the fence not on? Maybe she rolled under it and took the last line of tape with her? Crazy!

Once I had Lester in my backyard, grazing, and I went in the house for something. I came back out and he was still grazing, but when I walked into the garage there was a pile of fresh poop. The only door open was a door that was much smaller than a normal door frame- how he got his big bum in and out with no injury is still a mystery today!

Well,Denise, initially the electric wasn't one, but she did again today with the electric on!

This makes me think of a little 14 hand stallion who could get down and roll under what seemed like a very low bottom rail of a fence!

Hi, Cousin!
We have just had our first twinge of fall - no frost, but the last 2 days are definitely fall. Sunny, but cool.
We have a hot wire like yours, but it's just not very hot. OUr 2 horses know that it isnt very hot, but they still respect it.

Well if she can crawl under the fence, she is in a good health. That's a positive point.
I understand it may be dangerous because of the road. As you take good care of her, you have made what was necessary to prevent her from doing it. So, have a good sunday.

I got a comment from Esther in West Africa. As she writes in English, I suppose they have come to my blog from yours. Do you know her blog's name ? It does not appear on her comment.

I think they try to think this stuff up just to keep us wondering! I keep my fence on most of the time just to keep them honest.

Your previous post hit the nail on the head. We all are going to have to tighten our belts a bit and I feel badly for those that have over extended themselves and now are in a mess. We see it all around us here in Maine. Thankfully my hubs believes in living within our means and not carrying a lot of debt! The subprime buyers are getting hurt the worst, they just can't afford their homes and are losing them here left and right. Very sad.

Horses can do some of the craziest things!! Sometimes I wonder how they get themsleves into those situations!! I am glad she is not hurt!

Oh she's done three days onthe trot so far with the electric on , so today I guess I reinforce with cattle panels!

Well Suede crawled under our fence in the dry creek bed to get to mares, so I can see mares crawling to get to "greener pastures." It's always something.

I would have liked to see THAT! lol.

I'm glad she's not hurt, but it might be fun to keep a security camera pointed on that fenceline just to see if she sprouts wings next time...and flies! lol!
