Horses, Dogs, Fleas?

Mina, unsuspecting and before her bath!

Mina, unimpressed with her bath..............

Mina got a flea bath today............ And the house got a thorough flea spray, including beds and carpets! A lot of work, because Miss Mina likes to play in the old sand left over from where the pool used to sit. Everyone got de-fleaed as a precautionary task.

I think that Miss Kola's regimen is working. She's already looking a bit better. Today, since it had dried up a bit from last night's storms, I let Miss Misty out in the pasture and it did exactly what I expected it to do for Kola. Three hours of intermittent exercise.

It has always amazed me how quickly horses can gain and lose weight. Also, regarding fleas, when I moved to Nevada 20 years ago, my vet laughed at me for having a flea collar on my dog. He said, "We don't have fleas here in Nevada." However, this past year so many people moved to Nevada from California, bringing their dogs and fleas, that now it is being recommended that we use flea collars.

Kola's looking pretty good. Guess your plan is working out. My dogs aren't crazy about their baths either but they gotta have them.

Hard to tell about Kola's weight, but I do detect and "accusatory stare" in that first photo of her. *l*

I've used the bug "bombs" in the house to great effect to wipe out fleas. But you have to get all the pets and yourself out for several hours. Fleas are nasty little critters...hope they are all gone!!
