Kola & Her Exercise........

Well, Miss Kola started her light exercise program today. It all began with a five minute chase to put the halter on and then she was winded and gave up. Another 5 minutes on the lunge line and then another five minutes trotting after Miss Misty who was allowed out in the pasture. I wanted to start easy on her and build up. If it's not storming we'll get another five minutes on the lunge line this evening. Still displaying excellent ground manners. Thought we'd work on that a bit too. Good Girl!

Sounds like she's off to a good start, you seem to have a nice plan worked out for her. I don't know if you'd be interested or not, but I did a post about starting a horse back into exercise *Archives -April 6*, just in case you were looking for some more ideas it might help.

I like the first five minutes the best. Just think how happy Kola was escaping that mad predator with the halter attempting to detain her in some evil prison of....of....work!! Keep it up and both you and she will have plenty of exercise every day. *lol*

Good luck with the program. It sounds good to me.

Ha, sounds like the haltering part may be just as good exercise for her as the planned exercise right now. ;o)

Good luck. Exercise is good! Panama and I are enjoying getting back into a riding routine ourselves. :o)

I feel for her -- exercise is no fun!! Probably a good thing she runs around before submitting to the haltering. Anything to burn calories. I doubt our midwestern weather is going to cooperate with you today....

We are fighting the battle of the bulge around here too. My farrier wants Little Bud to take off 300 pounds but my vet said 150 was more realistic so here we go. :o( Had a Cushings test done today and will get the results in a week or so. Had the thyroid checked and it was normal so can't use the Thyro L darn it. Soooooo it will be light lunging and riding until the thrush heals up completely and then on to a good working program. On it goes but they are worth it aren't they?!

I'm at the same point with Missy, but today she decided the wind was blowing a bit too hard and decided she needed to gallop on the longe line. I pulled her in quickly, I'm really hoping she didn't do any damage to herself! Silly girl.

Some days Applejack is such a PITA to catch... I keep telling him it'd be sooo much easier on him if he'd just let me catch him.
