Michael Jackson.............

I know that some people may disagree with me on this, but however mixed up or eccentric this man child was, we've lost an incredible entertainer. One that in my opinion ranks up there with the likes of the Beatles and Elvis. I find the news of Michael's sudden death very sad and disturbing. I grew up with his music. There isn't a Michael Jackson song that I hear that doesn't remind me of a certain time of my life. And I'm sure that goes for many.
I don't believe that he was a creepy pedophile, but rather a perpetual little boy trapped in a man's body, who never ever got to live his childhood as a boy and was desperately trying to. A naivety of sorts. A true Peter Pan who was severely misunderstood and tortured in his own mind.
My heart goes out to his children and his family. The world has lost a truly magnificent performer and genious musician. R.I.P. Michael, you are missed.....................

I'm with you. So many songs trigger a mood, a sense of place. He was incredible and now, Peter Pan has died.

It's just awful.

I was so sad when I heard about Farrah Faucett dying. I had posters of her from Charlie's Angels, as did my hubby as a young boy.
It was so tragic and sad....but expected due to her condition.

Michael Jackson's death, on the other hand was much more shocking because of it being so suddenIt was strange how they died so close in time, though.

I wasn't even aware of his plans for a huge comeback. I would have liked to have seen it and shown my kids.
What a loss. Now we'll never know what he could have done with the second half of his life.

Not a fan myself, but great respect for all he "invented" in the world of pop music. His talent will be missed.

I blogged about Farrah and Michael yesterday. They were both of my era and like someone else said, my heart heart for losing Farrah and was shocked about the death of Michael.

My sons asked me if I thought he was a child molester. I said "No, I think he was asexual",if a definition is needed. I think he was a genious; a savant. But as Lisa said - a child in a man's body lends itself to some mental illness, as well.

I kind of lost touch with his music after the Billy Jean / Thriller era, but he was part of my generation and will not be forgotten.

I agree he was a great musician. It is sad when anyone passes. It is even sadder when people of fame and money can do things that people like us would rot in jail over. Would anyone make excuses for him the child involved was theirs?

He was aquitted and I really don't think he did it. I think he was a boy who never got to be a boy because of his fame. Abused as a child and told that white people don't hit their children. Think of him trapped as an 8yr old boy and never getting to play like an 8yr old boy. Did he exercise poor judgement as an adult? Yes. Over and over again, but a child molester,I really don't believe that.

Call it a grey area. With that kind of money it is easy to get aquitted. A person should not put themselves in that kind of position. After the 1st child came forward the parents were taking a risk allowing their children to be around him. A close friends son was put in jail for 2 years because he was 18 and the girl was 16. He was released early for good behavior, with a lot of stipulations. He is also labled as a sex offender. He could not talk to anyone under age without a family member present. He was caught taking to a girl at a park and now has to go back to jail for 10 years. He knew he wasn't supposed to talk to her and he put himself in that position. Being abuses is not an excuse. Both my sister and I were abused as children. We grew up.

I think Zoe may have been the baby I lost just before you were pregnant with her! You've said it before being friends with me prepared you for Zoe.

He wrote the Soundtrack of our lives...I will miss him. I know people that worked with him and knew him and everyone of them said "he was the most mis-understood person on the planet." I don't think he was a pedaphile...I think he was naive, isolated, out of touch, hyper-sensitive, and a million other things that made him eccentric. The media crucified him....a brilliantly, sad and tragic life.
