Well, Once again my great friends at Absorbine / W.F. Young contacted me and asked if I would be interested in trying a new product. So, of course I said, "Yes, send me something. I did take a couple of before pics, but not what I really should have, because I was so excited to have caught my horses and have them cooperate with me that I just got to work on the dreaded "burr" removal.

Now, I do not show my horses, however, I do like to keep them relatively clean when necessary, such as "burrs" plaguing them or mostly in the summer when riding. Usually, I use cooking spray to clear out burrs, but I thought I'd try this finishing spray, even though technically I'm not finishing prior to a show. I must admit, it worked really well as a "burr" removal product and it smelled real good. Well, that is until Misty farted in my face as I was finishing her tail. Neither horse minded the spray action or the smell, but in saying that, they are well behaved girls and both girls love a good grooming session and they are used to me messing about with them. I like the product and I would purchase it. It seems to average around $10 a can and although "cooking spray" is cheaper, I used less of the Absorbine Show Sheen Finishing spray to get the job done than I have in the past using the cooking spray. And I still have plenty left in the can. So I would recommend this product especially to those of you who do show. And it leaves tails and manes pretty and shiny.

Callie, I will always associate you with the dreaded burr removal sessions. Ha ha. And bonus, I got hit with two fart jokes in one day. Lisa of LOR had one too. Geez. The other day I had to tell Lostine not to crap on me because she kept lifting her tail while I was picking out her hind hooves. Horses are so rude.
LOL, Gail, too funny, thankfully no one has crapped on me yet, I'm sure that day is yet to come!
I am a fan of the Absorbine gel (the consistency isn't quite as firm as a gel but not as runny as baby oil either) It does a fantastic job. Think I'll have to give this finishing mist a try too.
omg word verification: purverts
lmao
I can't remember if we've ever tried this. But I do know we currently use Show Sheen to get the burrs out, I never use it on their bodies because of saddle slippage, which was a hard learned lesson. It was right up there with a fart in the face! As I'm sitting her now my dog Murphy is at my feet gassing me, I can't believe he ate anything that could smell like this.
Lisa, I'm not familiar with the gel stuff, may have to give that a try myself. I also used it on the hairy Aussie Shepherd last night and it worked well on him.
Arlene, LOL, I'll bet literally a "hard" lesson learned. And good grief, I always have dogs at my feet gassing me too! Wonder if we can feed them herbal frangranced food, LOL!
Some of the horses at neighboring barns have problems with burrs, but thankfully our Girls do not. I am alway leery of a product with an aerosol spray -- I prefer the "misting" type. But from what I have seen of "burr infestation" whatever works is worth its weight in gold!!!
I love the regular Showsheen so I'm not surprised this works well too!
