This Week .................
On Tuesday morning, Dr.Terry actually came early and both Misty and Kola received their fall shots and I was reminded to worm them. I did later that day with Equimax. Needless to say neither one of them was impressed with Tuesday.
The Vet said that she thought Kola looked even better than she did in Spring. I was pleased to hear that. She also thought Misty looked better as well. Misty was a little down in weight, I think more down in muscle due to her few months of stall rest last winter. Kola was body scoring out at a "6" this spring, probably closer to a "5.5" now. And they both are getting their shaggy winter coats.
Spot and the others were having a romp in the pasture as I attempted photography. I gave him permission as he never enters the horse area unless given the OK. The other two pay no mind to me or the horses and enter as they please...........

Haven't seen you in a while. Everyone looks great. Your roses are beautiful, I have a black thumb so I'd say do what you did last year.
Hey there, Arlene, been busy trying to prepare for winter, vote and all that stuff. Also worked an extra shift last week with demolished me...... I know, I've been a bad blogger and need to make some visits! ;)
Have`nt heard from you for ages! Followed your posts while in the UK.
Cheyenne, yeah, I've been a bit busy. The posts about the UK was when I got home from there. Didn't really have a way to post from there. Hubby brought the computer with him but that was for running his business. I imagine once I start hybernating for the winter, I'll be spending more time on blogger. ;)
Hi Callie ! Great seeing the mares and doggies !
Still having roses is impressive. Let's hope this means you'll have a mild winter.
Callie-wanted to let you know what we used on our IR horses this year. This was a new thing for us. At least recognizing it was new. I suspect some of our horses have been experiencing it for years. We just didn't know what it was or how to treat it.
Anyway, we experimented a little. I used the Frank Lampley Product Horse Sense on my horses in Colorado. It's designed for horses with 'nervous' problems and it helps balance the thyroid. It worked well for me, but then again I was using it in conjunction with Lampley's all-around vitamin/mineral supplement called A-Z. I also fed double doses of pure MSM (for inflammation).
My mom ordered a product called Command IR Ultra (made by Brookside Equine Supplements) for a horse back in SD and said he looks better than she has ever seen him look.
I noticed a difference in my horses after just a couple of weeks (using the Horse Sense). Mom said it took her gelding about a month, but he was an advanced case and also suffered a mild bout of grass founder this last spring. He was also fed double doses of MSM for inflammation.
All in all about 2 months on the Horse Sense and all traces of the cresty necks, fatty deposits, muscle soreness and lameness issues were gone from my horses. Mom's gelding took 3 months.
Oh-the Command IR Ultra was ordered out of the Valley Vet Supply catalog. Hope the info helps.
I know I sure had a hard time getting any of the weigh to come off of my buckskin horse this year until I started feeding him for IR. He has lost a significant amount in the last three months and I haven't had to 'starve' him.
SO pretty! Roses and other flowers are all wilted and brown around here now. Kola looks lovely. And what good polite dog Spot is for waiting for permission.

Horses, dogs and flowers, what more could a person want!!! Everything here is long gone as we have been having heavy frost and some spitting snow for a good month. My guys are getting all fuzzy too especially Kipper the pony, he will look just as wide as he is tall pretty soon from all the hair!
Hi Callie, it's good to see you. We've missed you. As for the roses cutting them back is what they like best I believe although it's been a while since I've had roses of my own.
have you ever heard of www.myhorseuniversity.com? They offer lots of informational stuff.
I think Kola looks beautiful...you know I have a soft spot for that lovely girl.
