"Fru, Fru, HA!"

Says Misty. I took this pic after I had spent nearly three hours bathing and grooming these girls, which, by the way included more than any one's fair share of burr removal. Especially on Misty as her tail and mane are thick and curly, whereas Kola has a silkier mane and tail which are much easier to maintain. Misty was a bit bent at me as I thought, "Well, hay, if I braid her mane, I won't have such an issue with burrs next time." but Misty grew impatient after a long session of burr removal and was not happy with the braids. In a few short minutes, she had already shook out the one in her bangs. And the look on her face.......Oh if looks could kill....I have to laugh....That a horse could be so humiliated by the "fru, fru" look of braids.

Yes, mares can be funny and opinionated about how they look. But, then, they are girls after all. lol

Funny! My horse loves being groomed but I've never tried to braid her mane, I'm not sure I could, it's so thick and course. At least they're clean!

Burrs are such a nuisance. A couple of my mares, the ones with frizzier manes, just collect burrs like they are the latest fashion. Usually just before a ride is due to go out. So does the longer-haired dog, who keeps Danielle busy on maintenance duty! Still, at least the horses and dogs enjoy their natural lifestyle out of doors.

I don't miss burrs. They are not here in Oregon, but man, we had them in Minnesota. My ponies always managed to find them and sometimes wind the whole branch into their manes...hours of work!
