I Think We're Nuts!

So yesterday, Steve and I went to our favorite little tree farm and cut down our tree, both agreeing that it would a little smaller and manageable since all child brats are no longer home to help us. So determined to cut it down and not buy one off a tree lot. We did ask the owner about some of his pre-cut trees and he said,"Well, I don't have very many, but I do have this 11 1/2 foot one right here." And Steve and I replied, "No, no, no. That's far too big." "This year we want one a little bit smaller." Both of us thinking that this may the last year we cut one down, not that either one of us is old, but I have MS and Steve has had a heart condition, so I do the cutting. I won't let him do that kind of stuff. Anyway, we found one and we both looked at it exclaiming that it wasn't that big. It wasn't overly fat and really wasn't that tall. I layed on the ground with the saw and Stephen laughed his bottom off as the owner's 7 month old pup started playing with my head, licking my face, sitting on my head, attempting to steal my hat as well as eating my nose. She was a darling and did succeed in stealing my hat. Down came the tree and then we tried to lug it back to the barn. OMG! You should have the owners face. I'm sure he was thinking,"Small, eh?". It barely fit in the large baler and the three of us had great difficulty loading it into the truck. We laughed all the way home. Was it stupidity? Was it early senility and a holey MS brain? I do not know what the hell we were thinking, but we did get it up. When it's time to come down, I think I will saw it down in pieces. This tree is nearly 13 foot high. I've had to anchor it to the stairwell with baling twine. I think we're nuts!

Great story and a beautiful tree. Did you get your hat back?

Actually Molly, I'm afraid that Steve and I are a bit indulgent with animals as well as our children. She was having so much fun with it including playing tug with us so it ended in shreds. I'm not sure if her owner appreciated our indulgence, but I like happy dogs.

Isn't ugly? I added some pretty icicles since this picture because I couldn't take it any longer. Geeze, it's crooked and ugly!

I think your Christmas tree is beautiful. Would love to have that fresh green smell in our house.

Ok, I'll admit it. Our tree is ... plastic. How horrible is that?

Thanks all for the words of encouragement, you know beauty and all, but honestly, It is so ugly. I like it. I actually feel a little sorry for , but it is butt ugly. It did come with it's very own bird nest. I'm worried that we might be yelling "Squirrel!!!" on Christmas Eve or something.I'm sure there's still some creature living within it somewhere.

I knew you must have cut one bigger than was already cut. It just seems to be how life goes. Besides I don't think they look nearly as big standing up straight as the do down or at an angle. lol

Bad puppy shredded your hat! Oh my, not a good thing to teach a puppy. YOu guys are bad!! lol

I wanted to add your tree has "character." That's important in a Christmas tree, don't you think?

Yes, if you could call it that. Character is a nice way of saying it's ugly! LOL
