I Love Summer.........

But I feel like it's already winding down and I find that depressing. I like warm summer days with low dew points and this week is going to get hotter and stickier. Steve and Zoe have gone to the mall today in search of some Apple software for Zoe and probably out to lunch. I opted out of going as I have some house work and just didn't feel like it. I thought I lost Stephen's dog, Fido, just awhile ago when I went out to let the girls out in the pasture. He usually wanders about the yard and then waits by the door. A half an hour passed and I went to check on him and he was no where to be found, so I went out to the road, God forbid, and I kept calling the deaf old fart and finally there he was next to the garage. Whew! Stephen would never have forgiven me! I think he was resting in the garage in the shade and didn't hear me calling him. Today, later when the sun starts to recede, I'll go out and clean water troughs. It's just too hot today. On a different note, Steve and I purchased a new bed! It is marvelous! We bought a Simmons Beauty Rest Black, model Gabriella! We love it as our old mattress was 14 years old and shot to hell! It was expensive, but well worth it! And that was the first one we tried and nothing after that compared! I'm spoiled as well because I believe in a high thread count sheet. I can feel the difference. Love the new bed! This week I think I'll work on the empty fish tank and start to get it set up. Tired of looking at it, but it will be a big project as it too is 55 gallons. Steve's saltwater tank is doing fine, but we lost the starfish recently. This tank is getting a whole new look. I used to keep an Oscar, but I think this time I'll replace the rocks with red rocks and a new background and pop in some different types of Silver colored freshwater fish. And as payday approaches with bonus in hand may even get a small tank to put gel injected neons in. I'm sure I'll post pics. Now I'll think of a good horsey post to make us all think a bit!

Sounds like a peaceful enough day, I hate the hot humid weather too, it just makes you feel like a wet dishrag and not like doing much of anything.

Arlene, I just went and did the troughs and while I was out there, I decided to halter the girls one at a time and hose them down. I actually think they appreciated the cool down!

I know summer is flying by! I don't even know why I bother taking a shower!! I sweat all day long! I ride at all different times of the day, it helps keep the horses in shape and used to the weather, as we use them day working! IT diffently cuts down on my eating, can't eat when I am too hot! Mine will fight over the water hose, it is hysterical!

School starts back here August 25th and it will be here before we know it!

I know, I know, One of the best things about summer is fresh salads! Mine act all timid until they get used to it! I had a gelding once that loved the hose. Would just dance in the water and use the hose as a water pick for his teeth. LOL

This whole year seems to have flown by. Usually I like SD summers-cool mornings, hot afternoons and decent evenings. This year-the weather just hasn't cooperated-we don't usually get a lot of humidity, but we have been way up in the 60-70% range for the last couple of weeks-miserable for us since we aren't used to it. And the bugs-agh!

If we could get back to "normal", the bugs would go away and I could do like kdwshorses. I am pretty sick of this not being able to ride regularly.

Ditto, BECS, The humidity is too much. My horses are heated just standing!

Just an advice for the tanks : don't forget to look at the water temperature often.
When the weather is hot, it climbs too much sometimes.
WHen I lost fishes, it was always in summer. I suppose it is because the temperature had increased of 2 or 3°C.
