Meeting Our Neighbors

OH, About two years ago, a very nice horse property sat for sale at over a half a million dollars. Only back then, it wasn't very nice for that kind of money. Lots of acreage, a couple of barns.

Today and since it was bought about two years ago, it has been transitioned into a lesson, boarding, and training facility. . Pastures all separated into reasonable areas with shade quansets and automatic waterers for summer. Behind the large barn, several paddocks, each with a three sided lean-to within it. And a very nice barn, solid clean stalls, tack room, and wash rack and parallel to that a large indoor arena and an outdoor arena, large parking lots and plenty of places to park a trailer. This is now called Dawson's Creek. Today, Stephen and I went to check them out. They had an open house, offering a tack sale, pumpkin and face painting for children, food and horse rides. And this, a small horse show featuring one of their trainers, Laura Amandis and her Andalusian stallion, Acierto. She trains in dressage and "Liberty" dancing.

I had a chance to meet both Heidi Dawson and Laura in person and asked about saddles for my gaited mare and just chatted a bit about what I might use. They seemed very nice and I'm sorry that after the demo, I really wanted a chance to thank Laura for the advice about saddles. I enjoyed our short visit there and even Stephen was impressed.

Yeah, Mrs Mom, I think she said he was 15yrs old and she's headed to Mass. for a show and performance. He was a pretty nice stallion.

W.O.W!

Makes me and my horse's round pen work seem like preschool playtime. lol!

That was amazing.

Do you think you will ever take lessons from her in the future.
I think I'd be over there asking her to help me work and play with my horse in similar ways as she does with her horses.

Great video Callie! When I think of how I have trouble getting my horse to stand still when I get on him I guess I'll never be doing anything that spectacular! ha! Great that someone bought that facility and made it into something so nice! I bet there will be lots of functions going on over there for you to go to.

Hope your ankle and knee continue to be better!

We saw some pretty nice horses last week while on vacation. There were a couple that I wanted to pack up and bring home with me!!!

They seem like they are the perfect neighbors to have. Seeing the video makes me want to get riding and training the horses again as soon as possible. I wonder if you took lessons from them if they would let you use the indoor for the winter.

Lisa, As they say, I'm sure money talks and BS walks, LOL. I wish, but I doubt I can afford to do it. I actually saw a really nice dressage saddle at the tack sale part for $500, worth , very nice, but out of my league right now. I'm considering something like that for my gaited mare cuz my western just impedes her shoulder movement, but it would be fun!

Midlife Mom, I looked her up on the internet and there are quite a few vids of her out there, I'm guessing fairly well known.

Arlene, I wish, but they have lessons and such and unfortunately I'm short a trailer these days, expensive college kid, LOL. I'd feel like I was stalking them or something, LOL.

Sounds like some very cool/ fun neighbors to have! hmmmm, maybe I should do liberty dancing with Lester...I need to do "something" with him.

Before I moved Less from my parents house our neighbors were awful. First I have to admit it was THEIR pasture land, but they said we could use it. I would come home to find Lester and the goats running their heads off because their grandkids were holding a motor-bike derby in the pasture- they of course had dug holes to make the jump mounds.

Denise, After this demo, I thought how perfect with Kola this would be considering how in tune on the ground she was with me the other day!

You are right Callie, that is the name of that horse that I liked so much at the Arabian Nights!!! Where do they come from and where can you buy one?? I think it would be so neat to have one that bulky but yet small enough for the grand kids to ride. Also one to pull a sleigh now that we have our carriage roads done. Thanks for helping me out, I can't remember anything any more! Do you know if they are gentle types or not?

I always love watching horses work "at liberty." They always look as if they are having so much fun.

What a nice set of neighbors.
