Unrelated To Horses, But Healthcare Rant!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing, really...........I can get better health insurance for my horses through an Equine Wellness Program, which I've previously posted about and pay less for than paying through the nose for my own insurance and jumping through tremendous hoops to get really very simple answers! Note to self, add UnitedHealthCare Insurance and Pharmacare/CVS to now growing longer "when I go postal, who will I take out list".

Hello????????????? I work in health care and must carry health insurance in order to keep my job. My portion of what I pay to keep my health insurance is approximately $4,000 a year, not including co-pays for visits and prescriptions, in spite of using Walmart pharmacy. And the extra costs for such things as MRI's and labs. Of which , I actually just finished paying of a co-pay of $350 for an MRI that was charged in the new year last year to get more money out of me than having met my family or personal total cost for that year, just so that I can get charged again!

Further more, I must fight tooth and nail for everything! I have just spent , I kid you not, the last 4 months on the phone with my Health Insurance and various "specialty" pharmacies just trying to find out what my new co-pay will be for my MS drug!

And not only did I have to supply my health care provider(insurance company) with proof of Zoe's full-time student status, fair enough, but my Employer, excuse me, requested that I provide proof of her birth 19 years ago and my marriage 6 years ago and proof of her student status! WTF? I pay for my insurance through my benefits package and out of my paycheck and that was good enough for the health insurance company. Tell me WHY then must I provide proof to my F-ing employer who actually had the balls to toy with the possibility of not giving ANY merit raises this year, yet the CEO walks home with a million dollars a year! F**K You!

OMG! I'm so pissed! So pissed!

That is ridiculous! I had UnitedHealthCare insurance for a while and they weren't that bad, but that was many years ago. There must have been a lot of insurance fraud cases since then. Dishonest people ruin it for the rest of us. The worst that happened with one of my employer's insurance companies was that the insurance company went bankrupt, so the employees got stuck with all these bills and were uninsured for a while.

I don't blame you for being pissed off, it's so hard to fight a monopoly like these insurance companies. When you're in a rigged game you don't have much of a fair shot at getting what you need. Take a deep breathe and count to ten and don't go postal! Eventually, it will all work out.

LOL, Not many people at United Health Care and Pharmacare/CVS like me right at the moment. I told them all that straight up I beyond any normal frustration! I just forked out $560 for the Equines which covers two horses for all shots both spring and fall(more than I normally give), fecal flotation, dental exam and teeth float with sedation, health exam and spring and fall consult. Weight consult and %35 off wormers and extra vaccinations. Which then carries over to next year if I do not use all of the services. I do still have to pay for the $46.50 farm call. Still a better deal than my family and I get and I'm a friggin' specialty RN!

LOL, I'll need blood pressure medication if they keep pissing me off! Probably part of their plan to get more money out of me!

Don't even get me started on the health care situation in this country! We have friends in Europe, and they seem to get care much easier and without the financial hassle we have here. They say we can't afford to cover everyone in America, but then we spend an ungodly amount of money fighting wars!!! What we have spent in Iraq would probably cover everyone here for years. We were self-insured for a long time ($560 per month premium, $5,000 deductible per person per year) and still had to pay about $10K in out of pocket costs when John and Zora fell on the trail one day and he broke his collar bone (surgery required). It is a crime the way people have to choose between going to the doctor and paying the mortgage, gas, food bills. And old people have to give up food for medicine. If all the other countries in the world can cover their people, why can't we (supposedly the richest nation on earth)? I believe it all comes down to MONEY -- some people are making a lot of it under our present system and don't want to give it up!!!
