Well, This Is How I Spent My Afternoon........

The girls' came in for inspection.............

I think this is going to make it a little easier on their feet, I spread it thick.

In the most traveled areas and way in the back, on the dry spot, I found their lay down areas, so I spread three bales of straw over that too.

They were slightly concerned as to what was going on and I ended up haltering them both as Kola's left eye was a little red. She gets spring and autumn allergies, so halter it was, a couple of neosporin/steroid eye drops and a dose of banamine and we'll see what it looks like in the morning. Funny these girls are as they have specific parking places in the shelter where I feed at night and if one crosses the other's parking place, they get pissy with each other, cracks me up. I have Kola back on her Thyro-L for the time being and will watch her weight closely as she did gain a little bit back a few weeks ago. Full moon again tonight, so I'll get to see if one of them uses their new straw bedding in their lay spots, will do some spying............

The straw looks good for now. I am frustrated with mud around the barn and still don't have a solution. I'll figure something out, but this weather has been dreadful that way. It never even really dried out this summer.

Makes me want to lay down and take a nap.

Looks like a great way to spend an afternoon. I am sure they appreciate the straw "cover" on the mud. Our animals all have their "spots" too -- sort of like how us humans always have the same place at the dinner table....

That straw looks so comfy and warm. I hope they appreciate all you do for them. Ha!
