That begins with the neediest puppy this morning.............. Isn't that the most pitiful face you've ever seen.
And a reason to celebrate! This is the first time that I have gazed upon a pretty normal looking knee. Pardon my camera angle, but I assure you up close, this knee is looking great!
I am so excited about this. The plan is at least two more weeks of stall rest and then perhaps a slow intro to walking and then just the small paddock in which to stretch.
Fresh water today for the girls, and a delivery of hay. I'm weaning Kola off her
Levothyroxine slowly and even without upping their winter hay, she still has plenty of weight to keep her warm, fatso!

Kola is probably saying 'who you calling fatso'! I'm glad the knee is looking a lot better, now you can breathe again. That sure is one sad face on the pup, looks like she needs a treat to perk her up.
Sore or injured knees are tough things to heal from. bah!
I'm glad she's doing better now. It just takes time. sigh.
Cute pitiful puppy face.

Great news!! So glad that the knee is looking so good.
Cute puppy face. I love facial expressions on dogs!
I can't remember what happened to the knee...but glad to know things are on the mend. I love Kola...such a cute horse.
YEAH! Sexy horse knees again! ;)
Hmmm might be I need sleep here.. LOL
Sure glad she is gaining ground Callie. Love that pathetic puppy face too. Got to have something to do with Cattle Dogs, cause Jo can do one very much like that. Cracks us up every time!
BIG Hugs to you guys! And of course, treats to those lovely ladies of yours too ;)
Thanks all for the encouragement! Photochic, I think what happened is she hyper extended it being a doofus back in November, early December, when the ground finally froze from being mud bumps. In the end I put her on stall rest and it seems to have done the trick thus far.
Yes,I am so thrilled about how well it looks today, you can see the difference clearly if you scan down to the post on the 24th, December.
What a sad puppyface! What's not to love?
The knee looks great! Seems you've done everything just right to help her heal.
I am so glad Kola is doing better. Had a great doctor!
Kola is fine, just fat, Miss Misty is the injured one, LOL, a mare is a mare, Hee Hee!
Wow that knee IS looking better! Have you started hand walking her yet?
Also, looking for a bit of advice... kinda gross but you know how we horse people are about poo:
Any suggestions for dealing with the occassional diarrhea? Cessa has it occassionally. No changes in feed or water. Just sometimes its nice firm little balls of poo and sometimes it is NOT. Quite the mess.
Yeah Lisa(cdn), Not looking forward to the hand walking and not sure quite how to go about that, how long, etc. Diarrhea, assuming you've ruled out wormer, wood chewing & such. I don't know,I do know that Misty will get diarrhea when nervous, something out of place. Like the first day I locked her up in stall rest. The "sh*ts" for 24 hours until she got used to it. I know Fresh pasture grass will sometimes do that, but you're in Canada as I am in Wisconsin, not likely there's fresh pasture grass around.Antibiotics for her wound? That can cause diarrhea........Even if she is no longer on them. It can happen sometimes. I might try giving her some probiotics to help settle her gut.
ANYBODY else out there with diarrhea advice as to what may cause it??????????
Great that she's finally doing better!
Again Callie - great news about the knee it is looking pretty normal after how huge it was.
As for loose poo.... My QH mare will be firm one poo and sloppy the next if she's stressed. New spring green grass, bad weeds in hay she's not digesting well...
