Old Horse Books

Callie bought me a Barnes and Noble Nook for my birthday and I have been looking round at some of the old out of print books on horses at Google Books, One of the reasons I wanted a Nook was to read some of the old classics and old history books, but while checking I decided to check what old books about horses were available

Fascinating reading

The horse by Isaac Phillips Roberts published 1905

The Gentleman's Farriery: or A Practical Treatise By J. Bartlet Published 1773

The modern art of taming wild horses John Solomon Rarey 1858

And I thought this was quite interesting

Nutrient requirements of horses National Research Council (U.S.). 1961

These are just a few of the horse related books I found there are literally thousands

One of the reasons I like the Nook is because I can download these books for free and read them like any other book sat away from the computer.

And I can not leave this post today without telling my darling wife VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARLING

Rock on! How do you like the Nook? I haven't heard yet from anyone who has one, but I'm interested to see if people are happy with it. Particularly since I'm now on an anti-Amazon campaign, and I'd like to encourage people to buy the Nook instead of the Kindle.

Happy Birthday! What a great gift. I love old horse books in order to see what used to be as opposed to what is today. It's all very interesting.

Katherine,

The reason I asked for the Nook was because it allows me to download the millions of free books Google has in Google Books, The Amazon Kindle and the Apple Ipad do not allow access to the free books,

Its pretty cool and to get a current book bout half price plus with the Nook I can lend the book to someone else to read similar to how you might lend a good book hardcopy to somebody so pretty happy with it

Steve,

Yes, the Kindle seems to be pretty limited, which is why I wasn't a big fan of it even before I became anti-Amazon. I also noticed the other night, looking through the ebooks on B&N's site, that many (if not all?) say they are lendable (is that a word?). Very clever of them to do that, as that was another of my main criticisms of the Kindle.

Sounds like a wonderful place to read.

Happy Birthday to the other half.

Happy Birthday, Callie!! May the day bring joy.

Somewhere I have one or two of some of the older books. While so many things have changed, the masters' wisdom never dies.
