I Swear This House Will Blow Down!

My Lilac bushes or should I say trees are blooming beautifully in spite of me doing a super cut on them early this spring. They were getting so bottom heavy, they were beginning to break, so Steve and I set to really cutting them back. I cannot believe how much lawn we managed to reclaim just from that. I think the Lilacs themselves are at least 20 years old.

It is so ridiculously windy today, the girls have been spooking all over the place. A little apprehensive coming in for dinner this evening. It's supposed to storm all weekend, so they'll stay locked up anyhow. Works better when I'm at work and Misty seems to be refreshed on Sunday morning when I let them out again.

Misty is still on her glucosamine supplement. Some days are great and she's back to normal and others are a little weak. Maybe we'll get some riding in at some point, but for now I'll keep resting her. I took Kola off the Vitamin E & selenium supplement after reading about selenium poisoning. Kind of freaked me out, but I put her back on her Levothyroxine again, just for shits and giggles. Her weight continues to maintain, but I'm watching her closely. I figure the "Levo" isn't going to hurt anything. She and Misty are really starting to shed out well, although Kola's hair is a little more course, but all those butt ruffles are now gone. I did a major hair removal grooming yesterday. I'm sure our birds are happy and have snatched it all up already. Misty is starting to gain the slightest of muscle back and I haven't even started to exercise her yet.
On another note, I managed to get the house nice and clean, cat boxes all changed, floors mopped. I still need to attack the basement apartment. Next week will be a week outdoors again and time to mow for the second time this season. Not sure what Stephen and I are going to do with all the darned trees we've cut back with still many more to do.........I wonder if there's a service for that, branch and cut tree removal. I really don't feel like burning it all and I so not trust Stephen with a wood chipper............Hmmmmmmmm.........Will have to think about that one.

The wind is horrible here too, my bones say storm is coming oh goodie just in time for the weekend.

I had to giggle at not allowing your husband use the wood chipper, I'm not allowed to use anything that is "powered" as I always seem to hurt myself.

Last summer I cut INTO an electrical cord with the hedge clippers. I was barefoot in the damp dirt and suddenly realized I was "tingling". Ended up in ER with irregular heart rate etc. Scared the crap outa me!

Geebus! JeniQ ! I'm the one allowed to use the power tools around here and mow the lawn and such. Steve, not so much, although he is more than capable, I've just seen him injure himself too many times, crap he can't even get the mail without breaking his ankle in three places and in all of my life, I've never seen anyone forget that their is a head at ached to his shoulders, LOL, seriously.........

It's windy clear across the country today. We had 30 mph blowing through our trees here. There was even a "fire watch", which made me feel like I was back in San Diego. Weird! I'm not allowed to use the power tools in our house or yard either.

I had to tie one of my minis to a tree to keep him from flying away. . .jk, I did worry about losing my banty hen and that I might lose the roof on the barn, it was like a wind tunnel through here.

Sounds like your getting in some serious Spring cleaning. Good for you. It's always so nice when the house is clean. Gives you more excuses to spend outside with the critters.....or to work on the outside chores, too. (gah!)

Gorgeous lilacs! I love the way they smell, too.

Love lilac's...it is amazing how just clipping a couple can smell up the whole house with goodness.

Your lilacs are beautiful. They're one of my favorite bushes, but they do tend to take over without the pruning. I'm sure there are removal services around so you don't need to do it yourself.

The girls sound like they're doing fine. Hope you get to ride someday when all the work is done.

I love lilacs. Haven't had any here for a while. Need to plant some I guess.

Here, we can take our tree trimmings to the local dump to be recycled at no charge.

Tree service came here and chipped up all the pines. I still have some BIG chunks of maple to get rid of and if no one wants them for firewood, Treeman is going to have to come back and finish them up as well.

You made my day Callie! Nice to have someone think I am a bit younger then I am!! After today I think I feel even older as Dad and I worked on fences and put up two new gates. It was very hot and then a heavy rain storm broke loose so I got the boys put in just in time.

If you find someone who will take lots of brush and limbs let me know! We cut a whole bunch last fall and didn't get them burned and now can't as it's too dry. Waaaaa!

I LOVE lilacs! Mine are just starting to bud and I can already smell them. I don't have very big bushes yet but hopefully they will grow and fill out.

I don't like to let my hubs use anything but a computer but he LOVES to get the chainsaw out on the weekends and cut down trees. Scares me to death! And he has a big chipper thing that goes onto the back of the tractor and just chips up a storm! I can't even watch!!

It has been really windy here, too. Your place looks great -- I don't have Lilacs in my yard, but wish I did. They smell so nice. I think there are services that will trim trees for you and mulch up the branches. Glad to hear Koala is doing better....At least Spring seems to be upon us now in the Midwest!
