It's Warming Up!

It is finally warming up a bit around here. Supposed to get to the 40's by the weekend so I decided to remove blankets this week. Misty looks great and Kola, well, not as bad as last year. A little on the overweight side but not nearly as bad as she was. I noticed although she has her fat pads over the tail region, her shoulders look much better. Last year, she actually had huge shoulder creases, this year not so much. I'm looking forward to warmer weather, however, I do dread the results of it. We'll be swimming in shit and mud. I may have to hire the shit removal company at $200 a truck load. And I still have to remove shit from the barn. Too much to do. Chainsaw a large number of trees down and fire up the burn pile before all the snow melts. We'll have to get a dumpster over here as well. We have a large amount of purging to do. Thankfully what is not accomplished on a weekly basis from now until summer, I'll be able to finish up in June as I have two weekends off in a row. And I can work on my tan at the same time!

I too am dreading the mud. My place is smaller and the cleanup a bit less, I think, but my sympathy anyhow. The worst is when its all wet like this, the cleaning is nearly impossible.

But, on the positive side, I can see my lawn in a few places...of course it may snow again tonight....*sigh*

Fantastic site. My sister is a big horse blogger too (Cari Swanson, New York). She and Sean Stevens (Wyoming) both recommended your site. We just made a new YouTube video that I think your readers would enjoy. It's for Yellowstone/Cody and is a funny spot that channels the spirit of Buffalo Bill. You can view it on YouTube (where this is also code for embedding): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zJEm0Ju51U Good for a laugh and a light-hearted post. --Jim

Hey, thanks for the link, Callie!

We're warming up, too. Nice when 40's starts to feel almost (ALMOST) too warm:)

As much as I'm happy to see our snow melt in our 50-60 degree temps this week, I dread the mud and the melting poo. bleh!!!

I keep telling myself the trade-off is going to be the most beautiful green grass this Spring. Yeh....

Beautiful photos of your equine ladies :)

we got DUMPED on by rain the other night, so we're up to our ankles in mud. I've been raking and shoveling leaves from the fall that I intended to burn - they've been too wet all winter!
